The IDI supports and runs conferences and events to strengthen the growth of the digital cluster in the Tees Valley. The IDI team also works together with Teesside University to offer students and graduates opportunities to learn from and network with internationally acclaimed industry leaders.

Over the past 18 months IDI and TEN (Teesside Enterprise Network) have brought events with a range of speakers talking on a number of different subjects. At our last event attendees asked us to organise more informal events that let them do the talking.

Concept Film Night with Northern Film & Media

The next quarterly Concept Film Night is a special joint event that we are partnering with NFM on and will be held at NFM’s base at Hoults Yard in Newcastle. It will be a great opportunity for film makers to show their work to a wider audience and expand networks.

TEDx another success

On the 6th April the IDI hosted its second TEDx event. The Sound Studio was once again transformed into an event space and over 80 people filled the seats to listen to real life speakers and watch a selection of TEDTalks.
The IDI hosts a quarterly film night which gives local film makers the opportunity to show their films to an audience of fellow film makers and those with an interest in the subject. The next Concept Film will take place on the evening of 8th June, venue to be confirmed.

Concept Film Night with Streetwise Opera

Concept Film Night will be hosting a special one-off event together with Streetwise Opera.
Screening 4 short opera fables from Streetwise Opera together with performance from the Middlesbrough Opera Group, led by David Pisaro and film producer of the Hartlepool Monkey fable – Tom Marshall, will be giving a Q&A session.
This event is free to attend and open to all.

In October 2010 the IDI held it’s first Fellowship Reunion event which brought together past, present and current fellows. And in a ‘speed presentation’ style format some of them shared their experiences and talked about what they have achieved since completing their fellowship.

Ideas generation workshop with Hyper Island

The IDI teams up with Hyper Island to host an ideas generation workshop. Attended by those running digital businesses, as well as a number of Teesside University staff. Attendees worked in groups to come up with ideas around a pre-selected theme and presented these back to the group.
